Ropes break on haynets, it's inevitable with all that tugging, but there is no need to throw them away because braided / plaited baling twine makes a great replacement rope. The plaited baling twine is supple and long lasting and as all horse keepers know baling twine is readily available.
Recycle. Reuse.

I made haynets out of the very thick twine that's used on the big bales. They worked out knotty by quite usable.

Baling twine is a big friend to me. I pick up stray bits whenever I see them now, as we no longer have small hay bales that used to keep me supplied. There's orange baler twine all over the place: for tying up Jay in and out of the trailer, to mend haynets, to mend the garden fence, hold up plants that are falling over, to hold up young trees ... I could go on and on. We have a stash in our Land Rover, in Jay's tack box, in our utility room and outside shed! Love the stuff lol. Elaine
